Reporting to the Head of School, the Chief Financial Officer is a strategic, collaborative leader who oversees the School’s finances, facilities, auxiliary programs, security management, food service, information technology, and business operations. This position has the flexibility to begin in the spring to the summer of 2021.
Oversees many non-academic operations of the school, including accounting, budgeting, auditing, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, auxiliary programs, cash flow, financing, facilities, information technology, campus security, and the endowment.
Partners with the Head of School to set a strategic vision for maintaining the financial sustainability of the School.
Develops and monitors annual operating and capital budgets, as well as the development and implementation of relevant aspects of long-term strategic planning.
Supports accreditation and membership in peer-based organizations.
Works with the New York State Department of Education (NYSED) for grants and State Aid
Works with Admissions to set policies and administer and award financial aid.
Reviews and negotiates contracts and purchase orders for the school.
Works closely with the Board of Trustees’ finance committee and the School’s retirement advisory committees.
Coordinates independent auditors.
Manages relationships with external parties including financial consultants, investment advisors, bank representatives, attorneys, and others.
Works closely with architects, contractors, and Township officials during all major projects.
Works with the School administrators to develop operating budgets and staffing plans.
Supports the Head of School for developing compensation plans and implementing human resources policies and practices.
Actively administers and structures the School’s welfare and benefits plans.
Responsible for risk management; coordinates with insurance brokers.
Maintains a focus on the school’s mission and core commitments at all times.
Provides back up support to all business office functions and training as needed.
Skills / Qualifications:
MBA preferred, along with significant management experience
Demonstrated competency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, and meet deadlines
Strong time management and organizational skills
Good interpersonal skills, with a strong focus on building a collaborative work environment
Experience working in diverse environments is preferred
Ability to operate accounting software when needed
