Position Overview

The Vice President in the Financial Sponsors Group (FSG) plays a critical leadership role in originating engagement opportunities from private company investors, including private equity firms, growth equity investors, and family offices and other noninstitutional investors, among others.  The VP also serves as the day-to-day manager of the group’s junior resource and support of banking teams across the organization, ensuring the group’s support and logistics are executed efficiently for ongoing initiatives on a daily basis. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Contribute to the origination of new business opportunities by tracking sponsor activity, industry trends, and portfolio company performance
• Cover accounts that present near and medium-term revenue opportunities
• Ongoing fund coverage curation and initiation of coverage on additional high-priority accounts
• Develop relationships with decision-makers at covered firms, in addition to BD conversations
• Responsible for building a strong reputation in the business development community
• Partner with senior sponsors group and industry bankers to develop new business strategies, prepare pitch materials, and drive relationship engagement
• Team Management: Oversee and mentor a junior resource across a number of tasks, including:
  • Ongoing administrative deliverables
  • Conference and event-related projects and communications, both internal and external
  • Responsible for training industry bankers in the US, as well as other geographies, on general best practices and keys to success in working with the Financial Sponsors Group

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of experience in investment banking, significant exposure to financial sponsors is a plus
• Proven track record executing M&A transactions
• Strong understanding of private equity dynamics, transaction structures, and capital markets products

• Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship management abilities
• Analytical and financial modeling skills, with a proven understanding of valuations and deal analysis
