This position primarily assists the Director of Business Development- Private Equity & Investment Funds with planning, organizing and implementing business development activities that support the growth of the firm’s Private Equity & Investment Funds practice. Responsibilities range from serving as project manager for specific initiatives to providing tactical support regarding tracking and organizing sales pipeline activities. This specialist often serves as the front line to attorneys contributing to the growth of the practice, and must deliver exemplary customer service. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with both tactical and strategic responsibilities, and welcome challenges that offer opportunities for growth and professional development. Travel on occasion required.
Location: Boston, MA, New York, NY, or Chicago, IL
•Bachelors degree in Business/Finance, Marketing, or communications field. Three to five years of experience in professional services business development. Strong preference for candidates with legal or financial services-related firm experience.
•Outgoing, sales-oriented personality.
•Detail-oriented, organized, proactive, self-directed and able to manage multiple projects, execute efficiently, and respect deadlines in a fast-paced, constantly changing, and demanding environment.
•Must be able to deliver exemplary customer service internally and externally.
•Demonstrated experience planning and managing events, ranging from client dinners to large conferences, from concept through execution.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•Proficient with Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Experience with Salesforce.com or other CRM tools a plus.
•Work with Director of Business Development- Private Equity & Investment Funds to execute the Private Equity & Investment Funds’ business development sales plan. Responsible for identifying and cultivating new business leads from existing clients or new prospects.
•Conduct research on prospects and clients and write clear, concise dossier reports of findings. Participate in competitor tracking and research, and industry business intelligence monitoring. Prepare and compile materials for sales pitches and business development meetings. Maintain and leverage CRM systems to track sales pipelines.
•Assist in updating attorney biographies and preparing directory submissions.
•Attend local industry networking events on a regular basis. Join committees as appropriate. Network and forge relationships with referral sources and relevant industry organizations.
•Plan and manage events such as seminars, conferences, private dinners, and webinars in support of practice group goals. This includes overseeing all aspects of an event including theme, logistics, internal and external communication, marketing and sales planning, and follow-up activities. Manage budget and vendor relationships.
•Perform other duties as assigned and provides back-up to fellow members of the Sales & Marketing team on occasion.
