This position primarily assists the Business Development Manager with planning, organizing and implementing business development activities that support the growth of the firm, and the M&A and Corporate Transactions and Securities practices. Responsibilities range from serving as project manager for specific initiatives to providing tactical support regarding tracking and organizing business development activities. This specialist often serves as the front line to attorneys contributing to the growth of the M&A and Corporate Transactions and Securities practices, and must deliver exemplary customer service. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with both tactical and strategic responsibilities, and welcome challenges that offer opportunities for growth and professional development. Travel on occasion required.

Work with Business Development Manager to execute business development plans for individual lawyers and the M&A and Corporate Transactions and Securities practice groups. Identify and cultivate new business leads from existing clients or new prospects and assist with competitor tracking, trend spotting and industry business intelligence monitoring.
Collaborate with the library to conduct research on prospects and clients and assists in the creation of clear and concise reports summarizing findings.
Prepare and compile materials for pitches, RFPs and other business development opportunities.
Maintain various department/practice group/industry experience lists, deal lists and case studies. Collaborate with practice resource team on creation and management of directory submissions.
Plan and manage events such as seminars, conferences, client events and webinars in support of practice group goals. This includes overseeing all aspects of an event including theme, logistics, internal and external communication, marketing and client development planning, and follow-up activities. Manage budget and vendor relationships.
Assist with maintenance of attorney bios and group contact information in CRM database. Update and organize invitation and mailing lists.
Provide back-up to fellow members of the Marketing and Business Development team.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Business/Finance, Marketing, or communications field. Three to five years of experience in professional services business development. Strong preference for candidates with legal or financial services-related firm experience. Familiarity with M&A and Corporate Transactions and Securities practices a plus.
Outgoing, sales-oriented personality. Sales coaching experience a plus.
Detail-oriented, organized, proactive, self-directed and able to manage multiple projects, execute efficiently, and respect deadlines in a fast-paced, constantly changing, and demanding environment.
Must be able to work effectively with a diverse group of internal clients (attorneys, professional staff, etc.) and deliver exemplary customer service internally and externally.
Demonstrated experience planning and managing events, ranging from client dinners to large conferences, from concept through execution.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Experience with InterAction or other CRM tools a plus.
